Retreat Facilitators
Kristin Lacy
Kristin Lacy is a former doula and midwife, now equine facilitated learning specialist. Kristin grew up around horses, but it was a mere childhood dream to own them. She was given her first horse on her 40th Birthday from her husband, which unbeknownst to her at the time would greatly aid her empty nesters syndrome and so much more. After experiencing the healing benefits of horses for herself, Kristin became determined to find a property that would allow her to help others in the same way. She fell in love with what would become Magnolia Stables. Kristin brings her past experience aiding in healing and emotional support as a doula/midwife to equine facilitated learning and support for each of her clients.

Priya
Priya is a registered yoga instructor in the Metro-Detroit area. She has practiced yoga her entire life, but it was her “Introduction to Hatha Yoga” class taken during her last semester of college in 2007 that reshaped her yoga experience and life. Her love for yoga flourished further after being introduced to Kemetic Yoga in 2012. Priya began her yoga career volunteering as an In-School Children's Yoga Teacher. She then completed “Yoga Skills School of Kemetic Yoga Teacher Training” in 2015. She established “POSE LLC, Positive Outlooks & Self Evolution” that same year. She began to instruct contractually, corporate and community classes, and has not stopped since. Meditation, positive thinking, positive speaking and seeing herself evolve is what drives her forward. It affords her the opportunity to inspire others positively. Priya is a life student of yoga and a teacher at times. She starts each day with “gratitude” and she ends it with more “gratitude” than she had at the start. Be Inspired!
Hakeem
Hakeem Weatherspoon is a Detroiter from the eastside who has always been driven to bring his innovative ideas to the city he was born in. The year 2018, after he officially decided to be The People's Poet, Hakeem started his interaction with horses at Detroit Horse Power through a program called Grow Detroit’s Young Talent. Through his internship Detroit Horse Power was where he first learned how to ride horses and taught inner-city youth how to do the same. Before the program came to a close, meeting Kristin Lacy as a volunteer during camp kept his spirit in touch with horses when the summer ended. Working with Kristin alongside DHP, Hakeem then finished his degree making him a graduate of Michigan State University with a B.A. in journalism for the summer of 2020. After receiving his degree Hakeem seeks to partner with Magnolia Stables in order to guide individuals on their social emotional journey of horse riding while continuously moving onward whether on a horse or on your own two feet.
God made doctors to help heal the body. But he made horses to help heal the soul. –Unknown
